Chicago and the Chicago political scene have long been said to be the playground of an assortment of unsavory politicians, corrupt and crooked public officials, shady hustlers and Mafioso old school gangsters (e.g. Sam Giancana, Al Capone, Bugs Moran) and their modern day prodigy (crews that go by names like Latin Kings, Vice Lords and Gangster Disciples). However, the recent comments whispered by aging Civil rights leader and longtime activist Rev. Jesse Jackson into an open microphone, to another guest on a Fox network program, to castrate presidential hopeful Barack Obama was the epitome of Windy City gangsterism.

"QueerBubbles" posted a picture on his/her blog and even posted it in a few groups. However, he/she refuses to actually discuss the post like a grownup. Queerbubbles resorted name calling, sending nasty messages and deleting posts. How very sad

Michelle Obama’s appearance Wednesday on The View is a very interesting and intricate case study in Public Relations Management and personal branding.  Over the past few days pundits have described her appearance as an effort to show off her “softer side.”  When I first heard it positioned that way, a series of random thoughts and questions began to scroll through my head:  ”Why does she have to show her ’softer’ side?  What exactly does that mean?  Why do black women always have to compromise their strong personas just to make society feel more comfortable and less threatened by them?” 

While a number of speakers -- such as Railroad Commission chairman Michael Williams and Mike Huckabee -- have praised the advance of Barack Obama and what it means towards a colorblind society, at least one vendor hasn't gotten the message.

Sen. Barack Obama promised senior citizens Friday that as president, he would protect Social Security benefits and provide universal health care. To extend the life of Social Security, Obama proposed applying a payroll tax to annual incomes above $250,000, affecting the wealthiest 3 percent of Americans. The Democrat also proposed eliminating income tax for any retiree making less than $50,000. "Secure retirement is no longer a guarantee for the middle class,'' Obama said during a visit to Oakleaf Village retirement center with his wife, Michelle. "It's harder to save and harder to retire."
