I finally got around to reading Obama's speech confronting the issue about his reverends remarks. Then i watched the video to see if I missed anything. For the first time at least in my life time a politician confronted a very controversial issue head on, he didnt try to to dodge it, didnt try to spin it, he spoke from the heart, at least it seemed that way to me.
One of the many reasons my husband and I decided to support Obama was that in this day and age he was one of the few political candidates who seemed real, who seemed just like an everyday guy. Take away his suit and put him on any neighborhood street and i know he'll fit right in and feel comfortable. I cant say that for the rest of the candidates.
Im already hearing mainly clinton supporters trying to tear him apart because he didnt go after his reverend with a verbal axe, but after hearing his explanations i understand it. Ive seldom in my lifetime seen anyone who doesnt have at least one person in their life who they vehemently disagree with but still sometimes you love them, other times its a deep respect. You dont condone what they say and you may even argue with them but instead of looking at the bad within that person you look at the good.
Obama was honest about one of the most controversial issues in our country even knowing that honesty might cost him. It takes a heck of a man to do that. Some say his chances are slowly going down the drain because of his reverend and if that does happen and it is based on this one issue alone, thats really sad and really unfair.
I said in a past post when i first decided to support Obama that this country needed healing, now more then ever before i firmly believe Obama is the only candidate that can do that.

How refreshing to see the Rudd style hit the US.
Upfront, I don't know the details about the campaign going on the States. Being a Finn and living in Finland, I hope you have the understanding for that.
Nevertheless, I read Obama's book and I must say that I was impressed. In him you have a candidate with own experience from a variety of aspects of your society. He has the insights to life among white people, among coloured and in different parts of your country as well as in other parts of the world.
He has worked a lot striving to get people to help themselves through cooperation towards common goals. From what I see, those are valuable assets in a teamleader and president.
